She stood, in her wedding dress, alone. Looking out over the gardens, she can hear people in the halls, discussing her new marriage. She's sure the bridegroom will join her. She turns from her contemplation of the gardens. Slowly, she reaches up and begins the arduous task of taking down her mane of hair. She wonders when - what was his name? Oh by the gods she doesn't even know her new husband's name.
She sighs and takes another pin out. Several clatter onto the dresser as she looks in the mirror.
"For the good of the Packs."
"For the good of the Packs." She twists a curl of her hair around a finger. She'd married this man for the good of the Packs, so that they can be protected.
"For the protection of the pups."
She hears the echo of her Alpha's words, swirling around in her mind.
Still, she can smell and hear the man coming down the hallway. She turns to the door, bright red hair around her shoulders. She curtsies deeply to the man that she'd married - the Prince, but for the life of her she couldn't remember his name.
"Remember, Brigid, you're going to be okay." Her Alpha's soft voice floats up from downstairs, but she doesn't move. He'd sold her to this Prince. She's not sure she's willing to listen to him right now.
