If he'd known she was thinking about his forgiveness, he would have been confused. Or even more confused. Forgive her for what? For believing in his father when literally no one, including himself, had? He blinks at the hand on his knee, not out of any sort of discomfort but just sort of overcome with the stress of the day, and back up at her face.
"I can't let you keep watch," he says dumbly. "What if something happens?"
